Disease, disability and premature death from chronic non-communicable conditions, mental disorders, occupat ional health, violence and visual impairment prevented and reduced

The AWP will contribute to the reduction of major Non communicable diseases (NCO) such as cardio-vascular diseases, diabetes, cancers, Chronic  Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases  and oral health problems by significantly decrease the impact of NCO risk factors (Tobacco, unhealthy diet, alcohol abuse, physical inactivity) on the health of the population.

  • MDG 1 Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
  • 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
  •  1966 International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

The AWP contributes todevelopment of cost-effective  measures to prevent and control the most common killers, I.e., NCDs, atgrassroots level. The burden of  NCDs now outweighs that of all communicabl e diseases combined and it is one important cause of poverty. Besides, the national mental health programme is one of the National Target Programmes of the Government of Viet Nam. Overhauling the social protection centres for the mentally ill is a priority of the Government (MOUSA correspondence to WHO). The support from WHO will include policy and strategy development, TA, S&E and capacity building (WHO GSM WP.201O.VNM.NCO &Injuries)
