About

Project Description:

The project will support the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement by filling an urgent gap in reintegration funding for the high-risk area of Southern Kordofan State and Khartoum State.

PBF Priority Area:

Support to Implementation of Peace Agreements and Political Dialogue

PBF Outcome:

1. Respond to imminent threats to the peace process and initiatives that support peace agreements and political dialogue;

2. Build or strengthen national capacities to promote coexistence and peaceful resolution of conflict;

3. Stimulate economic revitalization to general peace dividends.

Key Project Activities:

1. Provide sustainable social and economic reintegration to 1,400 ex-combatants in Southern Kordofan State.

  • Success will be measured by client-satisfaction surveys administered to XCs to ascertain their income level and through community perception surveys that measure the receiving community's attitudes towards reintegrating XCs. Household income surveys will also indicate the economic impact of the infusion of reintegration packages into local markets.

2. Provide sustainable social and economic reintegration to 924 ex-combatants in Khartoum State.

  • Success will be measured by client-satisfaction surveys administered to XCs to ascertain their income level and through community perception surveys that measure the receiving community's attitudes towards reintegrating XCs. Household income surveys will also indicate the economic impact of the infusion of reintegration packages into local markets.

3. Build Sudanese capacity to implement nationally-owned DDR

  • Success will ultimately be measured by the handover of DDR operations to government counterparts. Prior to that, the NISSDDRC's ability to staff and manage the programme will be the indicator of success.
