About
CHF-DMA-0489-123 “Hydrogeological Assessment and Survey in Selected Areas of Somaliland and Puntland” – 499,946$ The water supply situation in northern Somalia is very poor, particularly in rural areas where women and children cover long distances in the dry season to collect water for domestic and livestock use. Surface water resources are generally scarce because of its dependency on seasonal climatic variations that leave traditional surface water storage facilities either partially filled or empty. Hence, groundwater is the main source of water. Knowledge of groundwater resources is essential for strategic long-term planning. This project is expected to address these and other issues. The information generated by the project is expected to benefit WASH agencies to locate areas of potential groundwater resources that can be used in development of sustainable water sources for the communities. The information is also expected to help indirectly more than four million people in Somaliland and Puntland, the majority of them are women and girls. Recent Documents
