Project Description:

The construction of haffirs and boreholes in conflict-prone four counties of Jonglei State will mitigate against violent incidents, including Sexual Gender Based Violence, along migratory routs through access to water points for livestock and human consumption. The project also provides income generation for women through sustainable maintenance of the boreholes within the water committees.

Key Project Activities:

  • Consultations with communities in target counties on water-related conflicts regarding sites for water points, taking into account important issues such as Sexual Gender Based Violence(SGBV)
  • Boreholes and haffirs in priority communities are constructed
  • Community Water User Committees are established and trained for the operation and maintenance of the haffirs
  • Consultations with community women to determine preferable sites for the boreholes and design of the hand pumps
