Following the signature of the Joint Communiqué with the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the Fight against Sexual Violence in Conflict, the Team of Experts on Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict (TOE) assisted the Government on the development of an implementation plan of the commitments.  In 2014, the Japanese government provided financial support to the TOE with the objective of strengthening the capacity of Congolese institutions mandated to fight against sexual violence, through the provision technical support. The technical support focused on the following areas: fight against impunity; strengthening of the legal framework; support to the criminal justice response and awareness-raising. The current project aims to consolidate the existing achievements and ongoing activities.
