About
Project Description: In Guatemala’s protracted post-conflict situation peace cannot be consolidated unless the affected population is certain that reparation will be available through legally sanctioned means. The project contributes to the consolidation of peace in Guatemala through the strengthening of national capacities for the implementation of the right to truth, justice, reparation and measures to avert repetition of human rights violations committed during the internal armed conflict with a special emphasis on the grievances against women and indigenous peoples. PBF Outcome: National reconciliation processes that promote a culture of inclusion and peaceful resolution of conflicts are strengthened and the most urgent human rights legacies of the conflict addressed, including responsible media. Key Project Activities: 1. The Office of the Prosecutor General and the Judiciary Branch of government have strengthened their capacities for the investigation, prosecution, and judicial processing of grave human rights violations committed in the context of the internal armed conflict with a special emphasis on cases including gender-based violence.
