Project’s Strategic Outcome:

Capacity enhancement of national institution to promote women’s participation in peace process and protect the rights of women affected by conflict in line with UNSCRs 1325 and 1820.

 

Project description:

Support the capacity enhancement of the government and civil society at the central level for effective implementation of UNSCRs 1325 and 1820 and thereby contribute to the promotion of women’s participation in peace processes and protection of the rights of women affected by conflict. This will eventually contribute to consolidation of peace in Nepal.

 

Peacebuilding Impact:

Contribute to consolidation of peace in Nepal through facilitating the implementation of national commitments to gender equality and women’s human rights.

 

Project Outcome(s):

State entities create enabling institutional environments to promote and protect women’s human rights in line with UNSCRs 1325 and 1820, and other human rights instruments especially CEDAW.

 

Outputs and key activities:

  • Enhanced capacity of HLSC to successfully implement its mandate (Orientation to HLSC on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820; developing the NPA on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820; supporting HLSC in reporting on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820; strengthening HLSC Secretariat).
  • Enhanced understanding of concerned government authorities on UNSCR 1325, 1820 and CEDAW for mainstreaming of women’s rights in government programmes and policies (train the key government ministries’ staff on CEDAW and UNSCRs 1325 and 1820; mainstreaming gender in policies and programmes of MOPR; assist NWC in strengthening the monitoring mechanism; and orientation for civil society on NPA on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820).

 

Indicator and benchmarks:

Change in levels of understanding among HLSC members on implementation of UNSCRs 1325 and 1820 over time.

  • Timely submission of annual report to UN on implementation of UNSCRs 1325 and 1820
  • Training package for district stakeholders focusing on NPA on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820 developed, pilot tested and endorsed by PCC and HLSC
  • Workshop model for integrating the activities of NPA on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820  into the regular programmes of district line agencies developed, pilot tested and endorsed by PCC and HLSC
