About

*** Project Description (English Version) A recent study has been conducted in six provinces of Burundi showed that almost 100,000 arms were possessed by the population. The town of Bujumbura is on the top with 16% of population in possession of arms. No one can talk about peace when arms are circulating among the population. Those arms have made many victims among the civil population and Burundians have already expressed their wish to see the arms taken from the population through the process of disarmament. In order to reduce in a remarkable way the tensions and the risks related to the proliferation of light arms and of small calibre, the project suggests a process in two steps:
Global Goal and Immediate Objectives Global Goal Improve the security of populations by pilot activities of civil disarmament and promote the culture of peace and non-violence. Immediate Objective Support the implementation of the strategy of civil disarmament and the fight against the proliferation of small arms and contribute to the culture of peace and non-violence.
