United Nations entities, government agencies, NGOs, and international financial institutions have a vital role to play in operationalizing inter-agency pooled funds. In joining forces to implement projects and initiatives, partners bring a rich array of experiences, expertise, capital, and human resources to the table that results in lasting and meaningful impact.
Although the United Nations (“UN Participating Organizations” in pooled funding terminology) is the primary implementing partner for UN pooled funds, new legal instruments have made it possible in some contexts to expand opportunities to other multilateral parties like organizations, programme country governments, and “non-UN organizations" comprised of NGOs and international cooperation agencies.
Participating Organizations operate under their own financial regulations, rules, and policies, and each assumes full financial and programmatic accountability for funds transferred through the MPTF Office.
