The oldest and largest United Nations Multi-Donor Trust Fund (over $1.4 billion in donor contributions and earned interest), the UNDG Iraq Trust Fund’s Steering Committee met to approve the final new projects and joint programmes to be funded with the exception of a final release of funds for electoral programming. It is a historic occasion, because this is the first MDTF to fully approve all funding and move toward fund closure. The launching of a follow-up MDTF is planned in the near future that will enable the UN Country Team to build upon the governance structures and UN Country systems in place in support of the Government of Iraq’s priorities as outlined in the Iraq National Development Plan and articulated in the first Iraq UNDAF (2011-14).
