Following the request of the Secretary-General for the UNDP MPTF Office to administer the the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative (SE4ALL) Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF), a Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between Mr. Bob Orr, Assistant Secretary-General for Strategic Planning in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, and Mr. Bisrat Aklilu, Executive Coordinator of the MPTF Office, officially establishing the SE4ALL MPTF.

The SE4ALL is an initiative of the UN Secretary-General to mobilize action from all sectors of society in support of three interlinked objectives, to be achieved by 2030 : (i)providing universal access to modern energy services; (ii)doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency; and (iii)doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

Reflecting the broad partnership that the SE4ALL is catalyzing, the SE4ALL has unique Governance arrangement that includes an Advisory Board, co-chaired by the Secretary-General and the President of the World Bank; an Executive Committee, chaired by Mr. Chad Holliday, Chairman of the Board and President of Bank of America and a Chief Executive, Mr. Kandeh Yumkella, Director-General, UNIDO responsible for planning, managing and implementation of the SEF4ALL initiative, including the development of the overall Work Plan to achieve its ambitious objectives.
