Project Description:

Provision of grass-root level information and analysis regarding vulnerability factors, community needs and quick impact opportunities.

Data processing, GIS and cartographic support for UNMIN


Development Goal:

The project aims at enabling a common targeting and planning of reconciliation initiatives in support of the peace process by facilitating civil affairs monitoring and providing real-time assessed data from conflict-affected districts.


Immediate Objective:

  • Provide evidence-based analysis in the poorest and conflict-affected districts of Nepal to facilitate UNMIN’s civil affairs monitoring activities; drive the UN consolidated response for post-conflict reconciliation; and support the GoN’s peace-building efforts.
  • Provide field level support to UNMIN's district based Civil Affairs officers and monitors.
  • Augment OCHA information management capacity to generate GIS and cartographic products in support of UNMIN and other agencies engaged in peace support activities.


Outputs and Key Activities:-Evidence-based analysis:

  • Quick impact opportunities and priority targeting areas identified
  • Vulnerability factors monitored
  • Programme performance assessed

Field level support:

  • Immediate access to established network of key informants and grass-root level information made available
  • Immediate access to communication and transport facilities ensured
  • Provision and use of established real- time information management system with  remote up/ download, analytical framework  and information sharing facilities


  • Identification of information needs and methodology
  • Collection and analysis of data and information
  • Preparation and dissemination of timely and useful information products
  • Direct liaison with UNMIN Office of Civil Affairs
