This project will fund a special adviser for a period of up to 3 months to help facilitate the development of the Comprehensive Strategy - giving it a sharper focus on conflict-related sexual violence, as demanded by Security Council Recommendations 1820 and 1888, as well as Security Council Resolution 1911, renewing the mandate of UNOCI.  The special adviser will work with members of the Gender Theme Group, as well as key peace and security and human rights actors in supporting the development of the strategy. The work of the special adviser will be overseen by the DSRSG/RC.  The special adviser will be hosted by UNFPA. The special adviser will:

  • Undertake a desk review on the nature and patterns of conflict-related sexual violence in Cote D’Ivoire;
  • Identify data, analysis and knowledge gaps;
  • Review and analyze the draft National Strategy on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, as well as various plans and activities that exist in response to conflict-related sexual violence issues;
  • Assist and facilitate the Gender Theme group and partners in finalizing the Comprehensive Strategy;
  • Organise a process of thorough consultation across UNOCI, the UNCT and the Government with a view to securing endorsement of the strategy;
  • Advise on monitoring and evaluation systems to support the Comprehensive Strategy.
  • Help identify strategic actions for effective and efficient implementation of Security Council Resolutions 1820 and 1888 .
