Darfur Peace & Stability Fund
Start Date *: 8 Feb 2018
DCPSF Window 2
End Date*: 31 Aug 2019
Country: Sudan Project Status: On Going
  Participating Organization:   NGO/UNDP - NGO Implementation/UNDP

Global Aid Hand (GAH) aims to contribute to DCPSF’s goal to stabilize and bring sustainable peace in Abu Jabra, Adila and Abu Karinka Localities, East Darfur Sate through restoring trust and confidence between disputed communities and tribes. DCPSF’s theory of change will be applied during the execution of the project through intensive peace dialogues, capacity building of key actors, provision of inputs and services for the conflicted parties to solve the root causes of problems aiming to strengthen recovery.

The project will work in Hilal, Ardeb, Harrar, Agabullah and their neighboring settlements in Abu Karinka locality, Adilla, Abu Jabra, El Garadai settlements and their surrounding communities in Adila locality, in Sheq Al Takla, Abu Jabra and Al Huda communities in Abu Jabra locality.

The root causes of the conflict e.g. imbalance economic power sharing, inadequate setting of land ownership, inadequate marking of migratory route, lacking water management system around water sources will be tackled.

Youth and women in the above settlements will be the key focus during the project implementation. Youth are active players in the conflict dynamics due to high rate of unemployment in the region, lack of advanced education opportunities, disillusionment, and lack of future prospective.

Women, like youth, are often in the periphery of the community, risking their security, due to traditional norms and believes which limits their active participation in inter and intra-community life and decision making. Both youth and women have extremely limited voices in the targeted communities that negatively impact the conflict.

GAH aims to bring change through the proposed project linking activities to DCPSF’s outputs.
