Programme DescriptionThe Grenada Spotlight Initiative is designed to focus attention, coordinate human effort, and strategically apply resources to the implementation of a well-conceived comprehensive national programme to contribute to ending family violence and all forms of violence against women and girls in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

InvestmentsThe total investment from the EU for Phase I (2020 – 2021) is USD 1,650,000 and is distributed according to the following;
Policies and legislation (outcome 1): The programme will address the legislative and policy gaps that create an environment of impunity as it relates to family violence. Institutions (outcome 2): The programme will strengthen the capacity of institutions to provide gender responsive support in the area of Family Violence. Prevention and social norms (outcome 3): Spotlight will scale up existing creative and effective initiatives to establish healthy habits to prevent family violence against women and girls. Services (outcome 4): The programme will ensure that women and girls who experience violence use available, accessible, acceptable, and quality essential services including for long term recovery from violence. Data (outcome 5): The Initiative will ensure that data relevant to Family Violence in Grenada, Petite Martinique and Carriacou is rigorously collected and effectively used to improve prevention and response. Women’s Movements and Civil Society (outcome 6): The Grenada Spotlight Initiative will harness the power of Grenada’s women’s movement, autonomous social movements, and Civil Society organisations to end Family Violence and all forms of violence against women and girls.
InnovationCo-Creation Co-creation between duty-bearers and rights-holders in the design, development and implementation of innovative programmes and activities. Inclusion Criteria Scale-up of innovative programmes that focus on prevention of VAWG for those groups facing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and risk. Putting “the furthest behind, first” in Services Empowering service users through innovative social accountability measures to engage with service providers and duty bearers. Collect, use and share data on quality services. Invest in joint activism on gender equality and social justice around FV. Shared Operations Operationalize the United Nations Development System (UNDS) reform, creating new ways to integrate and join up programming thus leveraging the comparative advantage of UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes around EVAWG.
