The short educational feature film “The Game”, produced under the "Safety is a Choice" project, has been successfully screened to hundreds of students across several cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is now available on YouTube: Edukativni kratki igrani film "Igra".

 

The film, which aims to raise awareness about the dangers of possessing and misusing weapons—particularly among young people—is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Directed by Tarik Hodžić and produced by the Forum Association, “The Game” addresses the issue of weapons in households and the potential for misuse, especially by children and young people. The cast includes Dženita Imamović OmerovićDamir KusturaArijan Efendić, and Ibrahim Hodžić. Filmed in Visoko, the film has sparked significant discussions and will continue to inspire dialogue about the dangers of weapons, particularly among youth.

Following screenings, organized debates allowed young people to discuss the risks of irresponsible weapon possession, its societal impact, and relevant laws and penalties. The film is now available online and offered to media and schools as an educational tool to promote responsible behavior and highlight the consequences of legal, illegal, and irresponsible weapon possession.

Screenwriter Ivana Pekušić emphasized the need to raise awareness about the consequences of irresponsible weapon possession:

The script was born from the need to address the tragic consequences of irresponsible weapon storage in homes. The film highlights key moments where the right decisions can save lives, encouraging viewers to recognize and act responsibly.”

Damir Kustura, project coordinator for "Safety is a Choice" and an actor in the film, highlighted the project’s educational potential:

The "Safety is a Choice" project is supported through the “Law Enforcement Agencies’ Development in Small Arms and Light Weapons Control“ (LEAD) initiative, funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the French Republic, the United Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Norway, with general support from the European Union via the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) for implementing the Roadmap for a sustainable solution to the illegal possession, misuse and trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons, their ammunition and explosives in the Western Balkans by 2030.
