The Joint Program on Agriculture, Rural Development and Poverty Reduction

JPC4 MDG Driven Pro-Poor Policy Framework:

Under JPC4 MDG Driven Pro-Poor Policy Framework, the focus in 2010 was largely on gender issues. Technical support was provided to the Ministry of Finance and other federal ministries to institutionalize Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB); gender integration was seen in the budget chapters of the Ministries of Education and Health. Collaboration with the Planning Commission led to the inclusion of a specific chapter on women empowerment and gender equality in the 10th Five-Year Plan. The Ministry of Women's Development was supported to institutionalize the Gender Reform Action Plan and set up an M&E Unit, while participants were facilitated to attend international forums addressing gender issues. With respect to CEDAW (Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women), four Provincial Committees were set up and advocacy was carried out on CEDAW implementation in Gilgit-Baltistan and PAK. A national review and advocacy was also carried out on implementation of the Beijing commitments.
