The largest tropical forest in Africa, covering close to 167 million hectares or 10% of the world’s tropical forests, is located in the DRC. DRC is establishing its National REDD+ Fund to provide it with a financial instrument able to mobilize and combine diverse financing sources (public and private, national and international) for the implementation of the REDD+ national objectives. The DRC REDD+ National Fund is designed to ensure that the mobilized funds are allocated in the best and most transparent way to priority activities identified in the National REDD+ Investment Plan.
